Getting here
Let's get you here.
Two airports work here. One is usually easier.
Chicago O'Hare
Usually the easiest bet thanks to the sheer number of flights.
Milwaukee Mitchell
Smaller and calmer. Worth a look if the fare is much better.
Wheels recommended 🚗
You'll want a rental car here. Rideshare shows up eventually, but the wait near the facility can be hit or miss.
All drive times are approximate — traffic gets a vote.
Stay
Sleep well.
A few places we'd recommend when you're in town.
DoubleTree by Hilton Libertyville – Mundelein
Concur Most Preferred and our standard stay. Full-service, restaurant on site, and you're at the plant in minutes.
Hampton Inn & Suites Chicago Libertyville
Concur Most Preferred. Free breakfast and an easy in-and-out for a one-night trip.
Holiday Inn Express Vernon Hills
Concur preferred backup when Mundelein and Libertyville are full.
Book through Concur — it stays the system of record.
Eat & drink
Hungry?
Skip the endless scrolling. Here are a few places we'd actually recommend.
Tighthead Brewing Company
Closest good dinner to the plant. Local beer, solid burgers and pretzels, easy for a small group.
Tacos El Norte
Fast, cheap, genuinely good. The go-to for a working lunch run.
Gale Street Inn
Barbecued ribs overlooking Diamond Lake. Big tables, and it still lands under the limit.
Mickey Finn's Brewery
Downtown Libertyville standby. Park once, eat, then walk Milwaukee Ave afterward.
Lindy's Landing
Deck on the Fox chain of lakes. Best table in the area on a summer evening.
Little Bear Coffee
Real espresso in downtown Libertyville. Worth the detour over the drive-thru chain.

Nonprofit farm and bakery right off I-94. Quick, easy stop and a good gift-run for home.

Good to know
A few things the locals know.
Winter is real
November to March, pack a real coat. Lots can be icy in the morning — take it slow.
Traffic patterns
Route 60 backs up around shift change. Fifteen minutes earlier saves you thirty.
Tolls
Most rentals have an I-PASS transponder. Ask at the counter so you're not paying online later.
Local tip
Leave earlier than the map says between 3 and 6 PM. The Tri-State has opinions about your schedule.
